Rare early edition of a pamphlet containing the text of the "agreatie" of King Philips III of Spain (1578-1621), his agreement with the conditions for a truce between Spain and the Northern Low Countries. This agreement included Philips' conditional recognition of Dutch independence, and was delivered to the States General on the 25th of October 1607. Although the States General wanted an unconditional recognition, they accepted the agreement to be able to continue with the negotiations for a truce. The truce was signed in 1609 and would last until 1621. As Philips' agreatie was a major diplomatic victory for the Northern Low Countries, the text was published in pamphlets such as the present in 1608 and 1609 by multiple publishers across the country. It was also included in all three editions of the Bye-korf and the Gepurgeerde Byecorf, in which the 6 pamphlets that were not forbidden by the States General were republished. It is unknown which issue was the first, but they are very rare on the market, as we have only been able to trace four copies in sales records.
The lower corner of the title-page has been professionally repaired with paper, slight water staining to the upper inner corner. Overall in good condition.
