Second, "improved and expanded" edition of a very rare bookkeeping manual for households. Repeating the title-page of the first edition, but with a new title-page on the third leaf. The first edition appeared in 1804. The manual is mainly a collection of ledgers, after the English manner, showing both blank forms and examples of how they might be filled in. The filled-in ledgers give details for calculating expenses in household management, journal entries for general household expenses, and weekly accounts: everything needed to run a sound domestic economy.
Most ledgers centre around the times of daily meals: breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner, and what purchases need to be made to manage the inventory of food and beverages. The book also includes a pricelist of products that can be used in the household, such as bread, meat, fish, spices, butter and wine (Tarief van producten welke in het huishouden gebruikt worden) and a list of expenses incurred for 6 months maintenance of two coach-horses (De onkosten voor twee koetspaarden, bedragende voor 6 maanden onderhoud). The blank ledger forms could be purchased separately from the publisher. Fine untrimmed copy. Not in Bibliotheca Gastronomica; Bitting; Simon.
