Second French edition of the journal of Justin(us) Collier (also Coljer or Colier) (ca. 1624-1682) giving a detailed account of his first months in Constantinople (Istanbul), Smyrna (Izmir) and Adrianople (Edirne) in 1668, the year he succeeded Levinus Warner (1618/19-1665) as Dutch ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. After the journal itself follow two letters to the Dutch States General, one from the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed IV (1642-1693) and one from the governor (Caïmacam or Kaymakam).
With a few faint and mostly marginal stains, but otherwise in very good condition. Binding also very good.
