Rare first separately published edition, in the original Swedish, thoroughly corrected and enlarged by the author, of the classic on paediatrics by Rosen von Rosenstein (1706-1773), originally published in parts in the Calendars of the Swedish Royal Academy of Science. A milestone in the history of children's physical care, it was the first progressive work published in the field and marked the beginnings of modern paediatrics. It inspired further research and later developments in children's care and medicine, and was translated into most European languages (German 1766, Dutch 1768, English 1776, French 1778 and Italian 1780). It remains the great classic in its field.
In good condition, slightly foxed. Several pages show offsets from other pages, at least in some cases from a different sheet. Spine slightly damaged at the head. A seminal work of pediatrics.
