Very beautifully produced and illustrated miniature almanac, containing a calendar for 1826 and 12 short rhyming songs for children. They are set to the melodies of popular songs of the time, which are mentioned at the start. The section with songs, the Morale du cœur, was likely printed separately and could be added to a Calendrier of choice, as both parts have their own title page. We have been able to trace two copies of the Morale with a Calendrier for a different year. The 1826 calendar, however, appears to be very rare, as we have not been able to trace any other copies of it in institutions or sales records, nor found any mention of it in reference works.
The leaves are somewhat browned and foxed. The slipcase is slightly bumped at the bottom. Otherwise in good condition. Cf. Grand-Carteret 1661 (ed. of 1812); Welsh, A bibliography of miniature books, 1602-7 and 5132 (other eds.); not in Vandenhole; Welsh, The history of miniature books; WorldCat.
