Enlarged second edition of an illustrated work on British land and fresh water shells by the British naturalist William Turton (1762-1835) and extensively enlarged and corrected by the British zoologist John Edward Gray (1800-1875). Described and depicted are the shells of land and fresh-water snails and other fresh-water molluscs, arranged according to their family. The descriptions also included references to some important sources and authors.
