First edition of an important demographic and economic description of Cuba by the Galician politician Ramón de la Sagra (1798-1871), who lived in Cuba for several years and was appointed professor of natural history of Cuba. The chapters deal with the island's population, agriculture, communication, trade, navigation and administration. The chapter on agriculture contains detailed information on the sugar, coffee and tobacco industry.
