Interesting pharmacopoea for the use of surgeons, the second edition of the first Dutch translation (by A. Schráge) of Pharmacia chirurgica seu doctrina de medicamentis praeparatis ac compositis (Vienna 1775). In the same year Paddenburg in Utrecht published a second enlarged edition. The Japanese used the present Dutch translation to make their own pharmacopoeia, so that it played an important role in the development of Japanese pharmacology. Contemporaries praised the book for its practicality and especially recommended it for physicians in small towns and at sea.
With a mostly erased owner's stamp and a stamped shelf mark. Binding heavily restored, worn at the corners and top edge and damaged at the front side; spine with a hole at the foot and damged at the top. Nevertheless a good, structurally sound, copy. BMN I, p. 360; Kleiweg de Zwaan, p. 496; Maendelyke uittreksels, of de boekzaal der geleerde waerelt, 65 (1779), pp. 460-462; STCN (4 copies); Wellcome IV, p. 402.
