First edition of the public account, rendered by the famous Swiss educational reformer Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746-1827), of what happened during his presidency of the pedagogical institutions in Burgdorf and Yverdun. He had hoped that with time the results of his work would silence the disputes around it, but now that he is forced to wind up his school almost completely, he feels he must no longer keep silent and gives a full account of what had happened at these educational establishments. The book explains about the animosity between two of his most gifted pupils and co-workers, Schmid and Niederer, and the Niederer family's lawsuit against him. Pestalozzi was acquitted of all charges.
Good copy, slightly foxed. Israel, Pestalozzi Bibliogr. I, 45 1.
