€ 2,750
First edition of a work with 35 hand-coloured collotypes, showing different Japanese temples and castles. The volume is one of many from Ogawa's collection of collotype albums entitled "Things Japanese", which were issued from 1893. Other volumes deal with Japanese costumes, flowers, geishas and several Japanese districts. In 1898 this volume appears to be reissued or reprinted twice, once with 35 and once with 37 plates, both with "of Japan" in the title instead of " in Japan" (Baxley). Wenckstern probably refers to the 1898 edition (with "of Japan") but notes 36 plates.
Binding rubbed along the extremities and slightly scratched. Plates slightly browned with some occasional minor foxing. A good copy. Cf. Wenckstern II, 9 (1898 (?) ed., 36 plates).
