First edition of a monograph on ants by the Swiss psychiatrist Auguste Forel (1848-1931), best known as myrmecologist. Here he published for the first time his observations from his research on Swiss ants, including new species and genera. He describes the anatomy, geographical distribution and behaviour of several species, bringing together behavioural and taxonomic studies for the first time: a milestone in myrmecology.
Binding very slightly worn, especially around the edges, a few very small stains not affecting the text. An important work for the study of ants, in very good condition.
