Rare first and only edition of a print series on the life of Jesus. Elandt began work on the project ca. 1696 and engraved the plates after paintings by Jan van Orley (1665-1735), a well-known Brussels painter who specialized in religious scenes and altar pieces. The 12 beautiful etchings illustrate highlights from the life of Jesus.
The binding is somewhat rubbed and the head of the spine slightly damaged. Very slightly browned and with occasional minor foxing, but otherwise in very good condition. Hollstein (Dutch & Flemish) XIV, p. 191; STCN (5 copies); for Orley: Thieme & Becker XXVI, p. 42; for Elandt: Thieme & Becker X, p. 447.
