Manuscript document by the hereditary and lieutenant stadtholder of the feudal tenure of Overijssel, written by their registrar J. Jordens, in the name of Berend Hendrik Bentinck (1702-1773), lord of Schoonheten, a homestead in the Salland IJssel Valley. He was married to Bonne Elisabeth Juriana du Tetre d'Ecosse (1710-1796) and father of six children, among other of Volkier Rudolph Bentinck (1738-1820), a Dutch lieutenant who had earlier fought alongside George Washington in the British army in America.
The document speaks of the fact that Jan Edelinck will become the feudal lord of the house and yard Schonekamp at "het carspel van den Hardenberg Buerschap Oldhoene". It is stated that he would follow up his commitments as vassal of the feudal tenure of Overijssel, While the seal is lacking, it seems unlikely that this letter is a probate of the original. In the 18th century, copies of documents such as these would have been written on paper, and since the present document was written on parchment we assume that it must be the original.
