With an engraved, illustrated title-page bearing the initials of the engraver Pieter Huys and the date 1571, an unsigned circular portrait of Jesus in profile and 70 full-page engravings (16.5 x 11.5 cm) by several artists. 17th-century gold-tooled black goatskin, the front board with a centrepiece comprising coat-of-arms (with a name below it) in an oval (the arms and name mutilated, but probably Robert de Ligne or an heir), gilt edges, later endpapers. in contemporary colouring with extensive gold

Amsterdam, widow of Paulus Aertsz. van Ravesteyn, 1660. 3 parts in 1 volume. Large folio (47.5 x 32 cm). With an integral engraved general title-page, 6 double-page engraved maps, including a world map and a plan of Jerusalem, and 336 Bible-illustrations by Claes Jansz. Visscher (after Matthäus Merian?) on 42 numbered single-page plates. The maps and illustrations coloured by an early hand with extensive use of gold. 18th-century black so-called sharkskin over bevelled wooden boards (ca. 1770?), with 8 large silver corner-pieces and 2 large silver clasps with catchplates and anchorplates, all with matching stamped relief decoration, gilt and gauffered edges. The silver furnishings bear Amsterdam city hallmarks with year letter C and master's mark DF. Rebacked with most of the original backstrip mounted on the spine. Full description

With text printed in gold, title-page printed in gold, red and black with woodcut device, woodcut frontispiece, 6 full-page (3.3 x 1.6 mm!) woodcut illustrations, and headpieces built up from fleurons. The drop-titles of the five chapters and the appendix are printed in red, as is the fleuron used as a tailpiece at the end of each. Contemporary richly gold-tooled black morocco by the so-called first "stadhouderlijke" bindery, gilt edges. Full description

Strassburg, Johann Greiniger, 1514. Small folio (26.5 x 18.5 cm). With 8 large woodcut illustrations (mostly ca. 8.5 x 13 cm, 1 showing 2 images), one to each story plus an extra one for the story of the three-cornered mirror. Further with more than 100 woodcut decorated uncial initials (3 series) including some repeats. With the main text (in 2 columns) set in a bastarda type and the title and headings in 2 larger rotunda types. Recased in 17th-century(?) boards covered with a large fragment of a bifolium from a 15th-century(?) liturgical parchment manuscript in 2 columns of textura with dozens of 1- and 2-line red uncial letters (leaf 88 and its conjugate). The paste-downs have been preserved but the free endleaves are new. Full description

(Colophon: Cologne, [heirs of] Heinrich Quentel, 1505). With a couple decorated woodcut initials. 2 works in 1 volume. 8vo. Richly blind-tooled calf in panel design, signed ("HB") and dated ("1540"), both sides with in the centre a roll of showing the crucifixion, instruments of the Passion and the resurrection of Christ, surrounded by a roll with portraits of the 4 Evangelists and the front board with the title "Resolutorium" and "XLIII". Further with 5 brass bosses on each side, brass clasps, catch plates and corner pieces (lacking 2 corner pieces on the back). Full description
