Spectacular embroidered binding with silver thread View picture(s) 3 [BINDING - EMBROIDERED]. Geistliches Handbüchlein für die Reijsenden von newen in dise geschmeidige Form geordnet. Lüneburg, Hans und Heinrich Sternen, 1636-1637. Small 16mo. Contemporary silk over wooden boards, beautifully and finely decorated with a lavishly embroidered pattern in silver thread, gauffered edges, silver clasp in the form of two hands holding each other, with the initials "M.C.M. & M.C.B." on the back. With engraved frontispiece and engraved title-page, both depicting biblical scenes, small woodcut vignette with initials IHS for the Jesuits on printed title and on verso last page, 3 seperate titles in woodcut borders, small woodcut tailpiece at the end.
