Leaflet, ca. 215 x 280 mm., printed in grey, blue & black. Very fine. Interesting collection of promotional material designed by Dutch Constructivists. Ad 1: Educational book intended for youngsters, elaborating on how to use the Dutch Postal service (PTT). It is one of the most famous creations of Piet Zwart (1885-1977), one of the most versatile Dutch designers of the first part of the 20th- century. Next to being a photographer and typographer, he also designed the Bruynzeel Kitchen. From 1919 until 1933 he was a teacher at the art academy at Rotterdam. Ad 3: This promotional broadside was published on the occasion of the opening of the new building of the publishing house De Arbeiderspers at Hekelveld Amsterdam. Especially the title-page shows the use of the photomontage typical for the Dutch Constructivists. Ad 4 & 5: Two leaflets of invitations for Dutch royalty events, the first probably designed by Piet Zwart. The first leaflet was designed for the graduation ceremony held at the University Leiden to award to Princes Juliana of the Netherlands the honorary degree in philosophy and literature in 1930. The second was made for the silver jubilee of Queen Wilhelmina in 1923 (by H. Th. Wijdeveld?). Ad 1: Fine copy.- (Covers sl. soiled). Ad 2: Good copy.- (Frontleaf soiled).
Ad 1: Purvis & De Jong, Nederlands grafisch ontwerp van de negentiende eeuw tot nu, pp. 121-165, ill. pp. 164-165; Brentjens, Piet Zwart 1885-1977. Vormingenieur (2008), pp. 235-9.
