Third edition of the account of a former Free Mason, Thomas Wolson (or Wilson), revealing the secrets of the masonry rites and rituals, translated from his Le Maçon démasqué (1751). The plates in our copy were influential for the development for the interior of the Temple and the so called Tableau in the 18th and 19th century. In the second half of the 18th century many inside stories about the Free Masonry were published, especially in the Netherlands. They contained plates with secret signs and attributes which formed curiously enough the origin and the basis for actual and practical use of the alphabet and several ceremonies in the following centuries. Before these publications these were not used.
