With illustration of two children reading on engraved title, and 6 full-page engraved plates. 72 pp. First edition of fine illustrated children's poems by Marten Westerman (1775-1852), actor, poet, playwright, and also a publisher and bookseller living in Amsterdam. In his youth he also studied art, and the fine engraved plates were made after his own designs. Westerman later was to publish, and add some poems to the biblical poems left by his son. Fine copy of a charming children's book.- (Binding sl. rubbed; bookplate removed).
