Contemporary full calf, spine gilt in compartments, with red title label lettered in gold. Title printed in red and black. (16), 435, (61) pp. Later edition of Pieter Vromans important work on the juridical system and jurisdiction of the highest juridical courts of law of Holland, very much augmented by Mr. Hubertus Middellant. The first edition of the original work was printed in 1661 to be followed by many till far into the eightteenth century; the first edition with the additions and commentaries by Van Middellant appeared in 1699. The book is dedicated by the printer, Joh. Arn. Langerak, to Mr. Cornelis Schrevelius, an elderman of Leiden and is dated 25.10.1721. There is a laudatory poem by Vromans's brother-in-law Theodor Graswinkel to Petrus Vroman, dated 13 July 1669 and an undated one one by A. van Twist. Good copy with ownership's stamp of the 'Familiearchief v. Beresteyn' on the first fly-leaf.
