First edition of a famous French grammar, published with the initials of the author only, with which he signed the dedication. Later editions were published under the full name of Claude Favre de Vaugelas (1585-1650), a celebrated French linguist and one of the first members of the Académie Française, 1635, although he at the time had not yet published a single  work. He was a perfectionist and his grammar only was published at the end of his life. Vaugelas' "Remarques" had considerable influence and for a long time his authority remained unchallenged.

Good large-paper copy.- (Recased; rather severe wormholes, mostly at top of inner margins, but not touching the text).
