[TWELVE YEARS' TRUCE].Discours van Pieter en Pauwels, op de handelinghe vanden vreede. Anno 1608.   N.pl., n.publ., n.d. (1608) 4to. Modern wrappers. With drop title. (3), (1 blank) pp. Pamphlet in the form of a conversation between Pieter and Pauwels on the peace negotiations, how King Charles V lost his throne and died because of the inquisition (Tiele mistakenly mentions the jesuits instead if the inquisition) and referring to the atrocities committed by the Spaniards to the natives of Mexico, Peru and Florida and the islands Cuba, San Domingo and Puerto Rico. Both Knuttel and Asher list a copy with 8 pp., but the copy listed by Tiele and all the ones in the NCC have only 4 pages like our copy. The pamphlet was included in all three Bye-korf editions. The conversation starts with Pieter asking Pauwels why he is reading small printed works ('Druckens' and what they are about. Pauwels' answers that they are all the publications concerning the peace negotiations, such as 'Discoursen, t'samenspreeckingem, droomen ende reatsels'. This suggests that Pauwels is actually reading other Bye-korf pamphlets and that they induce the following conversation. Good copy.- (Sl. browned).
