American Sunday-School reader by a Californian wandering preacher, and as mentioned on title the author of "Seven Years' Street Preaching in California", "California Life Illustrated", etc. First published in 1857 and as stated at the top of title already the "Twenty-fifth Thousand", the book contains 4 Sunday-School speeches, addressed to the "Boys and Girls of America", on the subject of California, the spirit of America, and of course on children's piety. "A Word to the Old Folks" is added at the end, stressing the importance of a sound religious education for children. The wood-engraved frontispiece shows a Sunday-School preacher leading a group of children amidst the ruins of their chapel in a Sunday-School song.
