Early 17th century  edition of the famous heroic poem "La Gerusalemme Liberate"  ("Jerusalem delivered'') by the Italian poet Torquato Tasso (Sorrento 1544- Rome 1595), enlarged with five songs by Camillo Camilli (d. 1615), with a separate title page to this second part. This edition is based on the Genova edition of 1590, published by Girolamo Bartoli.
In 20 songs Tasso describes the first crusade under Godfried de Bouillon and the siege of Jerusalem, blending mediaeval chivalry and classical antiquity into the new Christian world. Next to Ariosto's "Orlando  furioso" Tasso's "Gerusalemme liberata" became one of the most  popular books of early literary history and for centuries it  greatly influenced literary authors, like Goethe. An index of names and subjects is included.
