Interesting French manual containing instructions for the French Royal army on camping the army, on marching, including marching on bridges, commanding troops, manoeuvring, defences, exercises, convoys, tactics, discipline, conduct in battle, etc. written by count Joseph Ignace Magnus de Spar.
The large engraved plates a.o. show army camps, the way of marching of an army, battle instructions and the manoeuvres of the infantery: 'Les campemens', 'Les marches de l'armée', 'Le fourage', 'Defense d'une rivière par differens corps', 'Retranchement d'un camp', 'Passage de pont', 'Manoeuvre d'infanterie', etc.
In the same year another Paris edition was published at Jombert; a second re-issue appeared in 1783.

Good copy.- (Spine used, label damaged, hinges weak, some marg. stains).
