Interesting contemporary biography of Louise Juliana, Princess of Orange, Duches of Orange-Nassau (1576-1644), the daughter of Prince Willem of Orange-Nassau - primogenitor of the Dutch Royal family and 'Father of the Fatherland' - and Charlotte de Bourbon
The biography is written by Frederick Spanheim (1600-1649), a professor in theology in Geneva (1631) and Leyden (1642), whose father, Wigandus Spanheim was a councillor of the Elector of the Palts. In 1593 Princess Louise Juliana married Frederick IV of the Palts and she was the mother of Frederick V of the Palts, called the 'Winter King' ('Winterkoning' or 'Winterkoninkje', because of the fact that he was King of Bohemia for only one winter), who lived in The Hague since 1623.

Endpapers lacking; spine damaged. Good copy of a very rare work. With bookplate of 'The Right Honorable George Rose' with his coat of arms.
