Contemporary vellum with title written on spines. With 2 engraved allegorical frontispieces for the vols., and 5 engraved allegorical frontispieces for the five parts, folding engraved map of the Zaanlanden, and 22 full-page engraved plates, incl. full-length portraits of the rulers of Stavoren and Vronen.

Second edition of the first collected edition of the various topographical descriptions of 'West Friesland' (Northern Holland) by Hendrik Jacobsz. Soet or Zoet, also calling himself Soeteboom or Zoeteboom (1616-ca.1680). It is a page-for-page reprint in a slightly different spelling of the first edition published in the same year.
Soeteboom, as he is called on the present title, was a poet, cloth-merchant and bookseller at Zaandam who published 5 interesting books on the topography and history of his region, here published together for the first time.
All frontispieces, the map and the plates were newly designed and engraved for the 1702 edition.

Volume 1: Engraved title (verso blank), title (verso blank), and 2 pp. with the 'Voorreden'.
- (1) "Beschryvinge van Oud-Zaanden, in drie boeken verdeelt", originally published in 1640 (engraved half-title (verso blank), half-title (verso blank), and a leaf with a laudatory poem by H. Bergius (recto) and a poem by Soeteboom (verso), and 110 pp. text);
- (2) "Zaanlandze Arcadia, in vijf boeken verdeelt", first published in 1658, with a folding map "Afbeeldinge van de riviere de Zaane inde Jare MCCL, etc." and 9 plates of Bruno, commander of the Caninefates, Floris V, Castles of Egmond and the Brittenburg, the Abbey of Egmond, Roman coins, Coasts of arms, the 'Kaas en Brood spel', Dirk van Sonoy, governor of Northern Holland, and Flight to Hoorn (engraved half-title (verso blank), half-title (verso blank), "Voorreden" by Soeteboom, dated: Zaandam 1658 (8) pp. and 563 (text) and (23) pp. (index).
Volume 2: Engraved title (verso blank), title (verso blank), 5 poems on Stavoren by Soetreboom, D. Traudenius and H. Bergius (pp. (1-4)).
- (3) "Op- en Neder-gank van Stavoren, in VI boeken verdeelt", first published in 1647 with 6 woodcut portraits, here with 7 newly engraved portraits of Friso, founder of Stavoren, Asconius, the first count, Richoldus Uffo, the first king of Stavoren, Magnus Forteman, Godevaart met de bult, Hesselus Martena, and Albert of Saxonia. (engraved half-title (verso blank), half-title (verso blank), dedication (pp. 5-32), text (199 pp.).
- (4) "Vroonens begin, midden, en eynde, in vier boeken verdeelt", first published in 1661, with 6 portraits and plates: Arrival of the bishops Wilfridus and Willibrordus at Vroonen, Dirk II, Aernouit, Robrecht de Vriese, Jan I, and Jan II (half-title with poem on verso), engraved half-title (verso blank), poem on the fall of Vroonen an the towns of West Friesland (6 pp), text (pp. 1-254).
- (5) the rare "Soet-Stemmende Zwaane van Waterland", first published in 1658, describing the cities and villages of Waterland: Edam, Monnikendam, Purmerend, Hoofddorp, Schellingwoude, Broek, Landsmeer, etc. (engraved half-title (verso blank), half-title (verso blank), dedication by Soeteboom, dated Zaandam, 12 July 1658 (6 pp.), "Voor-reden" (8 pp.), text (pp. 1-176), and (18) pp. index.
