Contemporary calf, spine ribbed and richly gilt, with double gilt fillet borders on sides. Engraved frontispiece depicting a woman with 2 kinds of cornucopias and surrounded by fruits, game, fish and wine, woodcut endpiece. (24), 469, (1 blank) pp. Collection of stories and anecdotes on gastronomy, translated from the Italian original La contra-lesina, con le nozze d'Antilesina (published 1601, 1603 and 1677) probably by Mattheus Smallegange (1620-1704). Good copy with the bookplate of Bob Luza on inside front cover.- (Frontispiece loose).
