Extremely rare first issue of the first edition of an arcadian poem in 20 strophes by Jan Six (1618-1700), a friend of Rembrandt and burgomaster of Amsterdam. Worldwide only two copies recorded, both in Dutch libraries (Royal Libr., The Hague and UL-Utrecht. A second issue was published by the same publisher in 1676 (also only two copies in the STCN). Six also wrote several plays a.o. 'Onschult' (1662) and  'Medea' (1648). In the famous second edition of the latter play with the etching of Rembrandt, published by the same Jacob Lescailje in 1679, our poem is also incorporated (in its second edition).
Very fine copy.- (Note pasted on inside front cover; some minor foxing).
