Dutch translation of a popular book on the art of letter-writing, giving hundreds of examples of letters for use in all sorts of occasions, by Jean Puget de La Serre (1594-1669). It was first published in French under the title "Le Secrétaire à la  Mode" by the Elzeviers in 1641 and often republished. The Dutch translation also was many times republished till the middle of the 18th century. The oldest recorded Dutch translation is from 1658, but the engraved frontispiece is dated 1652.
