XII, 348 pp. First edition of this practical manual intended for student magnetizers by Jules Denis de Sennevoy, baron Du Potet (La Chapelle, 1796 - Paris, 1881). Here it is complete with the often lacking 4 pp. bookseller's catalogue at the end. The second and third edition were also published by Germer Baillière, in 1850 and 1854 respectively. Du Potet was a famous French magnitizer. Besides this work on the experiments of magnetizing which was being held by the commission of the medicine academy in Paris, he also wrote some teaching books on bestial magnetism. Du Potet also founded the Journal of Magnetism.. According to Caillet, this manual provides some very interesting cures and was very successful. It still is an important addition in the genre and proved to be an excellent guide for the amateur magnetizer. Fine copy.- (Binding sl. worn; spine gone).
