With richly designed print-series of garden and park ornaments, with 30 full-page plates showing piramyds, obelisks, fontaines, statues in labyrinths and grotto's, festive wedding monuments, memorial monuments with inscriptions, etc., drawn and engraved by Jacobus Schynvoet and J. Goeree after designs by Simon Schynvoet, and including a dedicatory monument for Christoffel van Brants, consul of Czar Peter of Russia set within a huge gate hung with views of Russia on eiter side, this plate drawn and engraved by J. Ruyter. 30 lvs. Beautiful print-series of monumental garden ornaments, designed by Simon Schynvoet (1652-1727), a Dutch garden architect and art collector. The plates were engraved by his son, draughtman and engraver, and co-worker of his father, Jacob Schynvoet (1685-after 1733), and by Jan Goeree (1670-1731), the most sought after engraver and book illustrator at the beginning of the 18th century. Simon Schynvoet also published another series of garden architecture, with vases, galeries of statues, etc. Many of Schynvoet's garden ornaments were actual produced and adorned the rich Anglo-Dutch gardens of the period.
