Ad 1: First edition of a work on the geography and topography of the Holy Land and surrounding regions based on the Holy Scripture by Johann Jacob Schmidt (1690-1757), preacher at Peest and Palov. The work is divided in 6 chapters in which Schmidt gives a detailed description of the history, topography, politics, flora and fauna, the customs of the inhabitants of the Holy Land and surrounding countries in the Middle East.
Schmidt also published works on the history as treated and described in the H. Scripture (Biblischer Historicus (Leipzig 1728)), on physical subjects in the Bible (Biblischer Physicus (Leipzig 1731), on mathematics in the Bible (Biblischer Mathematicus (Züllichau, Frommann, 1736), and on medical subjects and disease occuring in the H. Scripture (Biblischer Medicus (Zülligau, J.J. Dendeler, 1743)). All these works are mentioned at the end of the work ("Verzeichniss der bisher edirten Schriften des Autoris"), the last work with the annotation "Ist unter der Feder".
Ad 2: Announced already on the title of the first work, this apologetic treatise is published here under a separate title.
