Ad 1: Second edition, enlarged with two plates, of an interesting work detailing of several experiments with snails. The author tried to prove that the heads of snails grow again after decapitation.
Ad 2: Re-issue of this supplement, augmented with two plates.
Jacob Christian Schaeffer (1718-1790) was a German botanist, zoologist, theologian, and the author of numerous works on natural history.

Binding rubbed; 2 plates in the first work misbound. Very good copies with the bookplate of Charles Atwood Kofoid.
