Auctioncatalogue with over 1850 lots with books on history, law , natural history, literature etc., from the famous 18th-century library of the bibliophile Don Simon de Santander.  After this sale Simon de Santander (d. 1792) he started to build up a new, even more extensive library, which he bequeathed to his nephew Carlos Antoine de Serna Y Santander (1752-1813), the later librarian of the former Public Library at Brussels, the starting point of the Royal Library Albert I.  He felt compelled, however, to sell the library and he published  a catalogue on the whole library of his uncle  titled: "Catalogue des livres de la bibliothèque de feu Don Simon de Santander'' (Brussels, 1792, 4 vols.).
