(4), xviii, (2), 584 pp. First edition of this manual on agriculture by the French agricultural scientist Simon Philibert de la Salle de l'Etang (ca. 1700-1765), députébof Rheims at Paris, and author of the Traité des prairies artificielles (Paris, 1751-1756). In this manual written on the basis of his experience of 30 years, he criticizes, perhaps too violently, the system of Mr. Tull (pp. 491-572). The next year his criticismc have bee refuted by Delamarre in his book Défense de plusieurs ouvrages sur l'agriculture, ou Réponse au livre intitulé Manuel d'agriculture. Further editions appeared in 1767, 1768 and 1784. Good copy.- (Frontispiece lacking).
