Louvain, Jo. Christoph. Flavius, 1612. 4to. Modern boards, old fly leaf bound in. With an engraved illustration on the title showing an alarm clock, and several woodcut initials and head- and tailpieces. (20), 328 (=329), (3) pp.

Very rare reply by the Jesuit Thomas Sailly (1558-1623) to the protestant Willem Baudartius van Deinse's famous Morghen-wecker der vrye Nederlantsche Provincien (1610) on the religious causes of the Dutch Revolt. In answer to the present work, some other works were written, notably Adriaen van Loo's Tweederley anatomien (1619) and (anonymous) Wederlegginghe eenes lasterlijcken boecx (1615).

Good copy.- (Sl. browned; with an interesting provenance: ms. ownership's entries on the title: 'Bibliothec. F. F. Minorum Recoll. Campensium' and on first flyleaf: 'gekocht op de verkoping van Bodel Nijenhuis, Schotel' and 'J. Schouten, 1853').
De Backer-Sommervogel VII, cols. 406-7; not in NUC or OCLC.
