Rare second issue with a new title of the first and only edition of the Dutch translation of a large collection of educational but also very entertaining conjuring tricks, games, exceptional feats, experiments, exercises, projects, etc., involving all sorts of material and touching all fields, written by the German pedagogue Heinrich Rockstroh (1770-ca. 1837). The collection was translated from the German periodical Journal für Kunst und Kuntsachen of 1811, by W. van Lingen, author of several children's books published by Noman at Zaltbommel which firm was specialised in children's books.
The book is divided into thirty-three sections plus a supplement. There are feats with paper and scissors; exercises with numbers and letters, with the microscope, with compasses and  rulers; projects with plants, flowers and insects; conjuring tricks with glasses, with magnets, with small mirrors, with  playing cards, with pieces of thread, with dice; projects with the stars and a celestial globe, with lacquer and gilding, letter-writing, handwriting, etc. etc. The book really gives an incredible amount of possible children's games and pastimes to be performed at home.

Good copy.
