First edition of a treatise on hunting with a gun, starting with an thorough treatment of various kinds of sporting guns, how to choose a sporting gun, on munition, powder and bullets, etc. Then the shooting of all kinds of birds in all sorts of grounds is treated, including hunting at night, from a hut or a wagon, artificial means, etc. And at the end sporting dogs are dicussed at length, including their illnesses, the book closing with some words on a sportingman's outfit and equipment.
The book is beautifully illustrated as well, and the first edition is especially sought after for the plates by Felicien Rops which are here in first state.
