Leiden, Van den Heuvell & Van Santen, [ca. 1872]. 8vo. Original decorated green cloth with gilt ornament on front cover, decorated gilt spine with title lettered in gold. With chromo-lithographed frontispiece. [7], [1 blank], 272 [2] pp.

Dutch adaptation of two travel accounts, Wanderungen in Australien und Polynesien by O. Rietmann, and William Kelly's Life in Victoria. The handsome frontispiece shows a bird's-eye view of Sydney as it was some 100 years after James Cook had first dropped anchor in Botany Bay.
The account was also published in the series De wereldbol: de jongste zee- en landreizen (ca. 1872).
Joints and hinges weak; spine chafed. Good copy of an interesting work.
Ferguson 14922; cf. Hill 916 (other account by Kelly of a voyage to California); not in Kroepelien.
