(16), 326, (2) pp. First edition of a famous account of Vietnam by the Jesuit Mission. The book gives a full and detailed report of the land and the people of Vietnam, followed by an account of the work of the Mission, together with some interesting discussions on the language. The full-page map, titled Regnum Annum, with the lands around the Bay of Macao, is considered the first separate map of Vietnam, showing the Gulf of Tonkin with the Red River with the town of Kecio, now Hanoi. Good copy, with armorial bookplate.- (Binding sl. rubbed, spine sl. dam., rebacked, with new endpapers; sl. waterst.)
