New, revised and enlarged edition of the most famous early work by Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie (1626-1688) on the planning and working of kitchen- and fruit-gardens, first published after the author's death at Paris, in 1690. The work is enlarged with some other treatises not from the hand of La Quintinie, a.o. one by Venette "Traité des Arbres fruitiers", first published anonymously at Paris in 1683, and an extra treatise on the lopping of fruit-trees with woodcut illustrations.
The added treatise on the cultivation of flowers had already been added to earlier editions. All the plates were newly made for the present edition.
