Very rare original edition of the statutes of Forcalquier, a commune of France of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southeastern France. In the Middle Ages it was the capital of the Haute-Provence on the Durance. These statutes are accompanied with notes of Louis Massé, who was a scholar and lawyer at the court of the parliament of Provence and marginal notes by F. Fortius.
The second part (with seperate title-page and pagination: (Fr. Clappiers), Genealogie des comtes de Provence. Depuis l'an D.LXXVII. iusques à present ..., Aix, Nicolas Pillheotte & Jean Tholozan, 1598) is the translation by Fr. du Fort into French from the Latin work on the genealogy of the Counts of Provence, from the year 577 until 1598, the reign of Henri IV. This 'Appendix', announced on the first title, is often lacking from the present edition. The text was re-published in 1603.
Both parts form the first work printed by the official printer of the Provence at the time, Jean Tholosan who printed it together with Nicolas Pillehotte who had been a bookseller in Lyon.
