Interesting book of prayers in German in a readable German 'roman' hand, apparently used in a convent. The book begins with a cycle of prayers with the title 'Schlag der lieb Gottes'; on ff. 15r-18r for example 'Ein schönes Ablas Gebet', ff. 27rv: 'Form der vollkommenen Reu und Leijd, ff. 97v-123r: 'Wie man die vollkommene Reu begehren und üben soll' (in 18 chapters), ff. 123r-127r: 'Monatliche vorbereitung zu einem Seeligen Todt', etc.
The engraving of Maria is by Johannes Everaerts, probably the Dutch artist who came to Cologne in 1722 and died there ca. 1766 (Thieme-Becker 11, p. 105; Nagler 2286).
In reasonable condition.- (The usual browning, worsening towards the end, last lvs. with ink stains and with some repairs, hinges weak, spine damaged).
