With richly engraved title, full-page engraved portrait of the author by J. van Velde, 5 double-page engraved maps of Gelderland, 4 double-page engraved plans of Nijmegen, Arnhem, Zutphen and Harderwijk, all with a view in profile at the top, and 3 full-page engraved portraits, of Arnold van Egmond, Karel van Egmond and Maarten van Rossem by H.L. Roghman and Retter. (26), 72, 956, (72) pp. First edition of the first extensive history of the duchy of Gelre in the Netherlands, beautifully illustrated with maps and plans drawn by J. van Geelkerken, etc. The work was later translated and enlarged by Van Slichtenhorst, who used also the same maps and plans, slightly reduced. In the preliminaries of the present work a large number of laudatory poems are found, including one by Anna Maria Schurman. Good copy, with ample margins.- (Binding very sl. rubbed, ties gone; old owner's manuscript index on second blank).
