No place, (1728). Oblong 12mo. Unbound (bound together by a string, as published). Print series of 11 (out of 12) numbered plates (ca. 70x113mm on lvs of 123x190mm), all engraved by Bernard Picart.

Beautiful and refined print series engraved by Bernard Picart (Le Romain, Paris 1673 - Amsterdam 1733), one of the most prolific artists of the period, depicting standing, reclining and eating lions after the drawings, or prints, by Rembrandt (7), Paulus Potter (1) and  Bernard Picart himself (3: "ad vivum", after life). Picart was a celebrated French artist who came to Holland in 1710 where he lived and worked in Amsterdam from 1711 till his death in 1733. He was a pupil of his father and he worked in Paris together with F. Chéreau.
The Catalogue of the Art historical library of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam calls for "six livres, chacun de six feuilles", dated Amsterdam 1729. Our series is numbered 'F 1-12', beeing probably the 6th series.

Fine series.- (First engraving a little bit soiled; plate 4 lacking).
