With allegorical vignette on lithographed title, 60 full-page lithographed vues, and 12 large lithographed vignettes. V, (1 blank), 127, (1 blank) pp.

Original edition, published in parts, of a beautifully illustrated travel book on Scotland by the French painter François Alexandre Pernot (1793-1865). The fine lithographed plates show views of the lakes, waterfalls, abbeys and castles of Scotland, like Berwick, Dunbar, Roslin, Lintithgow, Stirling, Doune, Campbell, Cairndow, Argyle, Dunstaffnage, Oban, Rothwell, Dunbarton, Crookstone, etc., also including some fine views of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Lanark. The artist, Pernot, published a similar work on Paris, "Le vieux Paris", in 1838-1839
