Viterbo, no pr., 1661. 12mo. Contemporary vellum with gilt title on spine, blue painted edges with title written on top edge. Woodcut vignette on title. 117, (1) pp. and last blank.

Very rare first edition of this poetical work with Italian sonnets and poems on a.o. the nine Muses and the nymphs in the style of Petrarca. A second edition was published in Venice in 1684 for Antonio Bulifon, who was a librarian in Naples. The work is dedicated to Francesco del Bosco, Isfar et Corilles, who was the baron of the castle Siculiana and the Prince of the town Cattolica in Italy. The author is Essione Partico, which might be the pseudonym for Giacomo Nasi, to whom the laudatory poem is dedicated. Apparently Essione Partico is supposed to be a beauty-loving Gymnasium teacher and much influenced by 15th-century Petrarcism. His poetry has a certain homo-erotical nature.
