Very rare account of the missions to China in one of the first French editions

[8], 145, [1 blank] pp. Very rare account of the missions to China here in one of the first French editions simultaneously published in 1607 in Arras by Guillaume de la Riviere, in Rennes by Harran and in Lyon by Pierre Rigaud. The work by Diego De Pantoja (in French Jacques de Pantoie, 1571-1618) was first published in Spanish in 1604. A second French edition in 1608, a German edition also in 1608 and an English edition in 1625 were later published. Pantoja was sent to Japan in 1596 but in Macao his destination was changed and he was sent to accompany Matthieu Ricci to China, where they together founded the mission in Peking. Small restoration on title-page. Good copy.
