Notes from the City Counsel of Utrecht on the plans to expand and improve the city of Utrecht at the Westside, instigated by the Burgomaster of Utrecht, Hendrick Moreelse (1615-1666). Moreelse  was Burgomaster of Utrecht since 1662. Following the plans of his father, the painter Paulus Moreelse, he developed a plan to expand and renew the city. Not all the citizens agreed with his plans. He got engaged in a row with a fierce adversary of the plans, the minister Voetius, who acted for the richer citizens. The argument ended in the resignation of his post as a Burgomaster in 1 October 1664. Only a small part of the plans of Moreelse were actually realised.
