Second enlarged edition by Frans van Raphelingen at Leyden of a famous Hebrew-Latin dictionary by Saint Pagninus (ca. 1470-1536), which had been published by Plantin at Antwerp since the 1570's, and was to be republished many times till far into the next century. It was in fact a shortened version for use at schools of the author's main work: Thesaurus languae sancta, first published at Lyons in folio in 1529. The Epitome functioned as the school dictionary for many generations of ministers. To the enlarged edition, first published in 1596, Van Raphelingen added - apart from many additions- also a Latin-Hebrew dictionary, which much improved its usefulness.
